Balens are holding their 5th annual Continuing Professional Development event on the 22ndMay 2017 at the NEC in Birmingham.
The CPD event will host a number of lectures on topics that are useful to practitioners, helping to create awareness amongst them of the bigger picture in the health and holistic field. There are also talks about the business side of the health sector, such as changes in the law, marketing a business, avoiding complaints and finding ways to improve a company’s communication skills.
This year’s key speaker is Jo Marchant, the author of the investigative book Cure, which explores a number of approaches to examine whether the mind can cure the body. Curewas written after Jo grew curious as to whether alternative treatments such as Homeopathy and Reiki can really be effective. Jo started as a sceptic of these more holistic approaches to treatment, however after researching in depth and conducting a number of experiments, she concluded that these types of treatment should not be dismissed.
Jo is a trained Scientist and has previously studied at St Bartholomew’s Hospital Medical College London, where she graduated with a PhD in Genetics and Medical Microbiology. She has also worked as an editor for the publications New Scientistand Nature and has appeared on many radio shows, as well as having a number of her articles published in The Guardian, TheObserver Reviewand Wired UK.
